Mundo Olmeca
I
Impossible to encapsulate in a single definition, southern Veracruz reveals itself as a macroregion of multiple identities.
Here converge the echoes of Los Tuxtlas, the breeze of the Sotavento, and the force of the Isthmus, a mosaic of territories that witnessed the splendor of the Olmecs and the Popolucas.
The land itself bears witness to this profound history, safeguarding vestiges of the Olmec civilization in sites such as San Lorenzo Tenochtitlán, Tres Zapotes, and El Zapotal.
Over time, the arrival of new inhabitants transformed the landscape and the culture. They brought livestock, introduced vital crops such as sugarcane, tobacco, and coffee, and sowed a new faith.
From this profound interaction a new lineage of inhabitants was born, forgers of their own version of the world, an unmistakably Veracruz reality.
